Super Ma'am September September 19, 2017 | Malacañang appealed to lawmakers to train themselves in "modest lifestyle" and avoid asking for special treatments.
The Palace statement was made following the House of Representatives' chairman's opinion that lawmakers should be immune to minor traffic violations.
House Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte Rep. Rodolfo Fariñas said the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority should give congressional parliamentary immunity from minor traffic violations, because of the heavy traffic affecting their work.
According to Fariñas, the immunity can be invoked in every session hours where violators are able to go straight to the House of Representatives but submit themselves to the post-session sessions.
But for Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella, even President Rodrigo Duterte has no special treatment for anything and continues to act in a simplicity.
As a result, the Palace hopes that the president will be a good example for other government officials.
